Rachel Tarlow Gul, Public Relations and Publicity Director

Rachel has successfully drawn on 22 years of book publicity experience to co-found OVER THE RIVER PUBLIC RELATIONS.

She began her publishing career as a publicity assistant for Ballantine Books soon after graduating from Barnard College.  More than 20 years later, she is still passionate about publicity and has become an expert in promoting Jewish authors and books.  While at OTRPR, she has helped launch new independent publishers including Three Rooms Press and Mandel Vilar Press and has spearheaded the publicity efforts for their lists.  Rachel has also managed major media campaigns for the authors in Nextbook and Schocken’s Jewish Encounters Series, including the acclaimed poet, David Lehman; cultural critic Adam Kirsch; and the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, David Mamet.  She has worked on a wide variety of genres from mystery/thrillers (Critical Mass by Sara Paretsky) to literary fiction (The American Sun & Moon Moving Picture Company by Jay Neugeboren), historical fiction (I Am Abraham by Jerome Charyn), women’s fiction (Beach Plum Island and Haven Lake by Holly Robinson), cookbooks (Helen Nash’s New Kosher Cuisine) and nonfiction (Sala’s Gift and Lady at the OK Corral by Ann Kirschner).   Rachel is married with two kids and enjoys preparing recipes from the many cookbooks she acquires, traveling around the country to visit family and friends, relaxing on the beach with a good book, and taking Zumba classes.
